Thirsty during the travels at the Fort Wayne International Airport and don’t want to fork out the cash for yet another water bottle purchase after security? Well, grab that reusable bottle and fill up at the airport’s new water filling station.
Craig Williams, director of operations and facilities for the Fort Wayne International Airport, said the idea for the project came during a recent business trip.
“I saw one at another airport and I said, ‘I want this in Fort Wayne,’” he said. “People travel with water bottles and it’s kind of frustrating when you have to pour your water out at the security checkpoint, but now, if you do, at least you can get filtered water, and it makes it nice and easy.”
The filling station was not that big of a project either. It took a crew about three hours to install, thanks to an already existing water fountain. It even has a neat ticker that tracks how many water bottles have been saved thanks to folks filling up at the eco-friendly watering hole.
Traveling is expensive enough, so this new, convenient system also is another way to save some dough when traveling, especially for a family.
“At an airport our size, it’s all about making the passenger feel comfortable and about customer satisfaction. We always say, “We don’t fly the planes, but we can certainly make you feel welcome while you’re here,” Williams said.
