The News-Sentinel sports staff will feature a different verbally committed player for the four NCAA Division I football programs (Ball State, Indiana Notre Dame and Purdue) in Indiana as National Signing Day comes and goes, with additional recruits being added to the teams' respective classes.

Here is today's Indiana's featured commit:

Position: Safety

High School: Brookland Cayce High School in Columbia, South Carolina

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 205 pounds

Commitment date: February 5, 2014

Other scholarship offers: Appalachian State, Citadel, Coastal Carolina and Youngstown State.

Ranking: Rated a two-star recruit by; rated a two-star prospect by

Indiana depth chart at position: Sophomore Antonio Allen, junior Dawson Fletcher, senior Mark Murphy, redshirt freshman Chase Dutra.

Scouting report: While Walker at this point projects in the defensive backfield, he could very easily move closer to the ball if he puts on some weight in the coming years. Regardless of where he ends up, Walker adds some depth at the safety position for the near future. He is a bigger safety but will need some time to catch up at the position with his technique. Indiana likely looks at Walker as a long-term prospect that will take a few years to develop, whether that is at safety or at linebacker remains to be seen. Anytime your pass defense was as porous as Indiana's was, you try to add as many bodies to the secondary as possible. That is why Walker was a late addition to this class.
