The new year got off to a rocky start for the Memorial Coliseum, thanks to a snowier and colder-than-usual January. Attendance for the month was 135,237, a decrease of about 32 percent from 2013, officials said Thursday, attributing the dip to lower-than-expected attendance at several events due to weather..

As The News-Sentinel reported last week, overall attendance for 2013 was about 1.065 million, down nearly 5.9 percent from 2012. Even so, the arena ended the year with an operating profit of $60,160, up from $45,090 in 2012
