INDIANAPOLIS – Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix III has no problem with being entertaining in interviews. Perhaps possessing a quick wit isn't the most important thing, but it can't hurt.
Here's some of what Nix had to say during interviews with the media at the NFL Combine on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium:
How did you lose weight (23 pounds)?
“About 60 minutes a day – the elliptical. And eat right. A lot of salads involved.”
Why did you initially put weight on?
“I didn't put it on, it was already there for a while. I enjoy my weight, sort of to say, but people wanted me down, so I lost weight.”
Why'd you choose to play at Notre Dame?
“It's a special place. Probably one of the best universities in the world. It was different from what I was used to. Culture shock at first. I wasn't used to cold. I didn't like it at first, but I stuck with it and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.”
What were your measurements?
“I think they had me at 6-2. I think I'm 6-3 though. I was 331.”
Is that your ideal weight for the draft?
“It depends on who you ask. If somebody wants me to stay there, I'll stay. If they want me to get sexier, then I got it.”
Is it hard to keep a healthy knee with all that weight?
“Oh, no, I see a lot of big people walking around with nice knees. I hope it helps my knee and I plan on staying low. Hopefully my knee stays good like it is now and I'll be good.”
When do you expect to be drafted?
“Wherever a team decides to take me. Honestly, in a perfect world, I wish I was the No. 1 pick, but I don't see that happening. I'm not a quarterback or Jadeveon Clowney.”
Do you have a favorite team?
“Growing up I was a Jaguars fan, but right now I'm trying to get a job so I don't have favorites right now.”
What do you hope to show teams?
“That my knee is well. I can run on it. I have a little wiggle, like I said. Just show that I'm back and I'm myself again. Less weight though.”
Do you feel different lighter?
“Yeah man, my stomach doesn't stick out as much. That's kind of nice. I like that part. My thighs got a little smaller. I just feel sexier, man.”
What favorite food did you have to cut out?
“I'd say Five Guys. I enjoy my Five Guys and Cajun fries. I'm starting to like salads now. They're starting to taste good.”
Do you take pride in what you do on Twitter?
“I don't know how coaches will take it. If they don't like it, I'll get off of it, but I take pride in it. People love me. I love people. I just like to entertain. A little.”
