Excavator pinned beneath truck dies

The vice president of a New Haven excavating company was killed Friday in an accident involving a dump truck.

Todd Fritcha, 50, of New Haven, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7500 Indiana 930. According to the Allen County Coronerís Office, Fritcha died from blunt-force trauma and his death was ruled an accident.

New Haven police and the New Haven-Adams Township fire department responded to a report of a party trapped just before 9 a.m. When officers arrived, they found Fritcha trapped beneath the rear wheels of a dump truck, New Haven police said.

The accident remains under investigation by the New Haven Police Department, the Indiana Occupational and Safety Health Administration and the Allen County Coronerís Office.

According to the Indiana secretary of stateís website, Todd Fritcha was the vice president of Fritcha Excavating, along with Troy Fritcha. Diane Fritcha is listed as the companyís president. Attempts to reach Troy Fritcha on Friday evening were unsuccessful.

The business had been operated by their father, Bill Fritcha, who died in 2011.
