The 10th annual Bus Stuff drive to collect food got rolling Wednesday morning at Citilink bus station on Baker Street.

Michael Franke, president and co-owner of the Fort Wayne Komets, presented $1,000 to Andy Bullinger, food sourcing manager at Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana. The food drive is a joint effort with Ivy Tech College Northeast, Community Harvest Food Bank, Citilink, Komets, and Indiana University-Purdue University of Fort Wayne.

All food collected will be presented to Community Harvest; the idea is to collect enough food to fill a campusLink bus. Larry Wardlaw, vice president at Asher Agency, said that's approximately 2 tons. In the past nine years the drive has collected more than 2,000 pounds each year.

Franke said being involved in the food drive is just another way that the Komets reach out to help the community.

Donations can be made at three Ivy Tech Northeast information desk locations: the Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., the Student Life Center, 3701 Dean Drive, and the South Campus in the Public Safety Academy, 7602 Patriot Crossing.

Donations can also be made at Community Harvest Food Bank, Kettler and Walb information desks and student housing at IPFW, any Citilink bus and Komets games at 7 p.m. April 2, 7:30 p.m. April 5, and 5 p.m. April 6. Those who donate at a Komets game will receive $2 off their game tickets.

Barrels will be set up March 31-April 6.
