A trade arranged through Craigslist turned into an armed robbery early Wednesday morning, according to a report from Fort Wayne Police.
Police were called to a gas station in the 5800 block of Fairfield Avenue at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday, where a woman and her boyfriend reported that the woman had been a victim of armed robbery. As she described events, she had posted a listing on Craigslist offering to trade her Xbox 360 for a phone.
She received a call from a prospective trader and agreed to meet him at Twin Oaks apartments on Paulding Road. When she met him, he pulled out a gun and demanded not only the Xbox but also a Coach purse, a Victoria Secret bag, two Xbox games and a cell phone that the victim had with her.
She told police the robber was black; 18-20 years old; 5 feet, 10 inches tall; skinny; light-skinned and “squinty-eyed.” She said that he wore a red hoody and saggy pants.
The Clark station at 2510 Coliseum Blvd. was robbed shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday by a man armed with a handgun, according to a report received by Fort Wayne Police.
Witnesses told police that a man approached a window at the building, showed the handgun and demanded money from the cash registers at the station. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money, driving off to the west in a silver or light-colored van.
Witnesses described the robber as black, about 5 feet, 10 inches-6 feet tall, 180-200 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes. He may have been in his late 20s or early 30s. He wore a red jacket with “Coogi” on the back and a black bandanna or cloth over his face.
