The 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT), B Company, 1-293 Infantry Battalion, Indiana Army National Guard, airlifted 40 infantry soldiers from Camp Atterbury south of Indianapolis in four UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters Thursday morning. The UH-60 landed at the Fort Wayne armory, 130 W. Cook Road.

The battalion has been performing its two-week annual training since May 31. It marks a historic event, with this being the first time since 2008 the entire 76th IBCT has trained together as a brigade. The 1-293 Infantry Battalion is part of the 76th IBCT.

“Nothing is more important than getting the brigade back together as the brigade,” said Col. Ronald A. Westfall, commander of the 76th IBCT.
