City Utilities will begin a series of meetings next week to update residents on the federally mandated sewer improvement progress, and to discuss proposed rate increases to pay for those projects.
The city is under order to greatly reduce the number of combined sewer overflows going to our rivers and reduce sewage that backs-up into homes. City Utilities will introduce a rate-increase ordinance to City Council next month.
The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be: June 30 in the Omni Room in the basement of Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St.; July 2 at the McMillen Park Community Center, 3900 Abbott St., and July 14 in Northrop High School's Bruin Room (enter by door No. 3), 7001 Coldwater Road.
