Police have identified a shooting victim who was tossed out of a car on Robinwood Drive on Saturday afternoon as Anthony T. Scott, 60, of Fort Wayne.

The Allen County Coroner's Office said Sunday that Scott died from gunshot wounds to the chest and classified the death as a homicide.

Police on Saturday were on their way to the scene of a shooting at 3205 S. Anthony Blvd. when they also received a report of a man lying in the street on Robinwood.

When they arrived, they found Scott's body near the curb a few yards south of Oxford Street.

The body that was dumped on Robinwood and the shooting on South Anthony were reported at almost exactly the same time, but police said it was not clear whether the two were related.

No shots were reported in the vicinity of Robinwood.

The shooting victim from South Anthony was taken to the hospital in fair condition Saturday.

The pace of gun and other violence leading to homicides has slowed compared with the same period last year.

In 2013, halfway through the year, Allen County had had 23 homicides on the way to a total of 45, including four police-action shootings, for the year.

Halfway through 2014, Scott's death is the county's eighth homicide.

Scott, at 60, is also one of the older victims of homicide in the city.

Last year only four of the 45 homicide victims were in their 50s or 60s.

Last year, 22 of the homicide victims, about half, were in their teens or 20s.
