1 killed in collision by failure to stop

A Fort Wayne man died Sunday when he failed to stop for a stop sign at U.S. 6 and Indiana 9 and collided with a truck, the Noble County sheriff’s department said today.

Balvinder Singh, 57, died at the scene of the 8:15 a.m. crash, which closed the intersection for several hours.

In a statement, the sheriff’s department said Singh was driving north on Indiana 9 when he failed to stop at the intersection with U.S. 6, colliding with a truck driven by Clara Slabaugh, 55, of Nappanee.

Slabaugh was not injured, police said. They said a passenger in her truck, Brittani Grove, 20, of Nappanee, suffered a minor head injury but was not taken to a hospital by emergency workers.

Indiana State Police are assisting with a reconstruction of the accident, police said.
