Edy's ice cream is planning $18 million in improvements to its ice cream plant at 3426 Wells St. The parent company, Nestle Dryer's Grand Ice Cream, has asked City Council to approve a "phase in" that would temporarily lower taxes payable on the new manufacturing, computer and logistical distribution equipment. The application states the equipment would help retain the existing 542 full-time jobs paying an average salary of $47,120.
