An Allen County Republican caucus Saturday elected Anita Mather to succeed John McGauley as County Recorder. McGauley, completing his second and by law final term in the office, was named in July to succeed the retiring Jerry Noble as Allen Superior Court executive.

Mather, currently chief deputy recorder was unopposed in the caucus and is also unopposed on the November ballot, meaning she is already assured a four-year term after McGauley's term ends Dec. 31. Before becoming chief deputy, Mather served as system administrator in the recorder's office, which is responsible for maintaining a variety of real-estate documents.
