Is it?

Could it?

Could it be?

It is!

The Pigskin Prophet is emerging out of his parents barn to some comfortable football weather and, wait for it … scrimmage Friday!

Only this swine would get this excited to see dingy practice jerseys and weird scrimmage rules, but tonight means we are just one week away from doing it for real.

The Pig will be hitting up several scrimmages throughout the night, doing what he does with no one really seeing him do it.

Here is what your favorite prognosticator outside of Miss Cleo will be watching tonight:

How does Bishop Luers look?

The Pig has heard it all offseason about how the Knights are going to be this and that in 2014. Well, it is time to start proving it.

Neither Bishop Luers nor its scrimmage partners Bishop Dwenger will show much at Saint Francis tonight, but The Pig will be able to garner some information from what he sees. For instance, how is the offensive and defensive line play for the Knights? Can they execute simple fundamentals? These are two areas of the game in which Bishop Luers woefully underperformed a season ago.

Who gets the most time at quarterback for Carroll?

There are two big-time quarterback battles in the state of Indiana right now, one is between Andrew Luck and Chandler Harnish in Indianapolis (The Pig would not lie) and the other is between juniors Cody Dinan and Aidan Smith at Carroll.

The Chargers head to North Side tonight to take on the defending SAC champions. The Pig has heard various stories on where this battle is headed, but we could find out a lot on who gets which reps against the Redskins.

Or maybe not? Coach Doug Dinan is a guy who likes to hold his cards pretty close.

Needless to say, it will be surprising if we know who starts behind center against Goshen in Week 1 based on tonight's action.

How does Keion Powers at Wayne look at QB

There is no doubt that Wayne has the best skill position players in the area. But two things concern The Pig, depth and Keion Powers at quarterback.

Not that Powers cannot do it. He is a lightning-quick runner who can dart through tiny holes and find seams with ease. The question is, can he give the Generals a legit dual-threat at the quarterback position?

If Powers shows that he can, and Wayne can stay healthy, watch out.

Who is serving pork, ham or bacon?

Recently, East Noble coach Luke Amstutz played a cruel joke on The Pig when he invited him to the Bixler Bowl, a community football night to kick off the season held last week.

In the flyer, it was clearly displayed that there would be porkburgers served...porkburgers.

The Pig is unsure if this was a threat or an honest mistake. However, coaches who have averaged seven victories a season in their seven-year career, like Coach Amstutz has, do not make such mistakes. It is obvious that Coach Amstutz was sending a message.

Well, The Pig has a message to send himself. He is scouring the area for programs who serve relatives of this swine at their athletic functions. Those who do will face some sort of punishment that will have no bearing whatsoever on anything important, but will make The Pig feel better about himself.

You have been warned.

There is also some speculation that Smith is nursing an injury to his hand, although the details are sketchy.
