The 16-player tournament field has been shrunk down to eight for The News-Sentinel High School Football Fan Choice Preseason Area Player of the Year.
As we inch towards the start of the season on Aug. 22, The News-Sentinel is giving the fans the opportunity to vote on which player they believe is the best in the area entering 2014.
The event is a bracket-style, four-round tournament pairing up the area's best players against each with the winner being determined through online voting on The News-Sentinel website, news-sentinel.com.
The tournament voting schedule is listed below, with voting ending at 11 p.m. for each round. The player with the most votes when the polls close will advance to the next round.
Voting for the championship match will start on Thursday and will conclude at 12:01 a.m. on Friday. The winner of the The News-Sentinel High School Football Fan Choice Preseason Area Player of the Year will be announced in the Friday edition of The News-Sentinel, shortly before the 2014 officially kicks off.
Four regions will comprise the 16-player field. Each region was named after a standout former high school football player from the Fort Wayne area: the Rod Woodson Region, the Tyler Eifert Region, the Chandler Harnish Region and the Bob Cowan Region.
