County's 2015 revenue estimates lowered by $1 million

The proposed 2 percent raise fore Allen County government employees next year is in doubt thanks to a $1 million shortfall in income taxes the county expects to receive next year. Original estimates indicated a slight increase, creating total estimated 2015 revenues of about $88.7 million. Each 1 percent raise costs about $500,000, and with various departments still seeking another $443,000 in spending next year, the "missing" million could come from the departments' budget appeals, health-care costs or raises, Chief Deputy Auditor Nick Jordan said. County Council will resume work on the budget next month.
