After a week-long bracket-style tournament that saw 16 of the best area high school football players entering the season pitted against each other, senior Bo Davis of Garrett has been crowned The News-Sentinel Fan Vote Preseason Player of the Year.
Davis dominated the final round of voting against fellow finalist Logan Leiter of Leo. Railroader fans turned out in droves as Davis earned 92 percent of the vote out of close to 2,400 votes cast.
For the tournament, over 19,000 votes were cast as fan bases supported their team's players in the event.
Davis, a linebacker and Garrett's returning tackler from a year ago, headlines a Railroaders defense as the program transitions back to the Northeast Corner Conference this season.
Davis will also see action at running back for Coach Chris DePew's team that is coming off a 4-6 campaign in 2013.
Garrett opens the season tonight at home against Prairie Heights at 7 p.m.
