Mad Ants first-round draft pick Alade Aminu didn’t stay with the Fort Wayne D-League team long.
The Ants traded Aminu to the Erie Bayhawks for former Notre Dame forward Rob Kurz, the team announced Friday.
Ants coach Joey Meyer said Thursday after the team selected Aminu, a 6-foot-10 forward from Georgia Tech, that Fort Wayne was exploring trade options.
Kurz played in 40 games for the Golden State Warriors last season, averaging 3.9 points. The 6-foot-9 forward will be joined by fellow former Irish players Kyle McAlarney and Ryan Ayers on the Ants’ 17-man training camp roster.
Busch races to 5th straight Trucks win
Kyle Busch has won each of his last five truck races, extending the streak that began at Bristol in August when he beat Matt Crafton by 0.725 seconds at the 1 1/2 -mile, high-banked Fort Worth, Texas track. Busch has won seven times in 13 starts this season. Ron Hornaday was third.
Bandits’ game called due to illness
The Fort Wayne Bandits, a wheelchair basketball team, won’t play their scheduled games today at Turnstone. The games were canceled due to illness, according to a news release from Turnstone.

State finals today
The 2009 Indiana Cheer Championships State Finals for varsity teams will be held today at New Castle. The time is 11 a.m., while the awards will be presented at 4:30 p.m. Area teams competing are Homestead, Concordia, Bishop Luers, Columbia City, Wawasee and Bishop Dwenger.
