With rumors swirling about Charlie Weis’ future, Florida coach Urban Meyer quashed speculation about leaving for Notre Dame.
“I’m going to be the coach at Florida as long as they’ll have me. So I want to make that clear,” Meyer said Monday.
Meyer was an assistant at Notre Dame from 1996 to 2000. He was Notre Dame’s top choice to replace Ty Willingham in 2004, but Meyer chose Florida. He has acknowledged that Notre Dame is still his “dream job.”

Oklahoma State, Villanova win titles
Four Oklahoma State men finished in the top 25, leading the Cowboys to their second national championship over favored Stanford in Terre Haute. The Villanova women won their eighth national title.
Irish receiver Biletnikoff finalist
Notre Dame junior Golden Tate is a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award given to the top college receiver. Tate has 83 catches for 1,295 yards, both school records, and 15 touchdowns (12 on receptions) this season. He is a finalist with Bowling Green’s Freddie Barnes and Texas’ Jordan Shipley.
Nordqvist takes LPGA title
Anna Nordqvist has won the LPGA Tour Championship in Richmond, Texas, while Lorena Ochoa finished second to win her fourth consecutive player of the year award. Nordqvist, 22, shot a final-round 65 to finish 13 under par. Ochoa was two strokes back.
Andrews’ alleged stalker in court
An Illinois insurance executive accused of secretly making nude videos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews pleaded not guilty Monday to interstate stalking. Michael Barrett, 48, entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
Dwenger’s Pawlik is state’s best
Bishop Dwenger senior Jordan Pawlik has been named the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association girls soccer Player of the Year. Pawlik also was named All-State, as was teammate Sarah Killion. For the boys, Homestead teammates Kegan Harkenrider and Justin Hanford and South Side’s Bryce Rockwell-Ashton were named All-State.
Nadal falls again to Soderling
Rafael Nadal has lost to Robin Soderling for the second straight time, falling 6-4, 6-4 in their opening round-robin match at the ATP World Tour Finals in London. Soderling also beat Nadal at this year’s French Open this year.
