A Fort Wayne man fractured his clavicle and a hand when his Jeep Grand Cherokee flipped over after a chase with police ended outside Garrett, according to a DeKalb County Police Department news release.
A vehicle driven by Kyle B. Berger, 21, of the 1100 block of Southerly Point, was fleeing officers with the Fort Wayne Police and Allen County Sheriff's departments before 1:30 p.m. Thursday when it continued northbound on Indiana 327 from the DeKalb/Allen county line, according to the release. Garrett Police put down stop sticks, which deflated the Cherokee's left front tire. The vehicle continued northbound through Garrett and went north on County Road 11 at a high rate of speed on the gravel road.
Berger lost control of the Cherokee and struck a tree between county roads 32 and 28. The vehicle flipped onto its top, trapping Berger, who was removed by the Corunna and Garrett fire departments. He was flown to Parkview Hospital.
Berger is facing charges of resisting law enforcement using a vehicle.
