Coroner releases name of 4-year-old killed in Friday wreck

Authorities on Monday released the identity of a 4-year-old girl who died Friday in a five-car wreck on U.S. 30 at Kroemer Road.

Abigail Marie Little, of Albion, died of blunt-force injuries, according to the Allen County Coroner's Office, which ruled her manner of death as accidental.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, the crash took place around 3:20 p.m. on U.S. 30 westbound, between Interstate 69 and Kroemer Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that four vehicles were stopped at a traffic light at Kroemer Road when a semi approached the intersection and did not slow or stop, according to the police department.

The semitrailer struck a Pontiac minivan that was transporting two small children, one of whom died. The other three vehicles – a Mercury SUV, a Ford pickup truck and a Chevrolet pickup truck – were caught in a chain-reaction crash, with the Chevrolet pickup rolling over onto its top as a result of the collision's impact.

The girl who died was originally listed in critical condition at the scene of the crash. She died shortly after arriving at a local hospital, according to the police department.

Five others were transported for medical attention; no conditions were immediately available, police said.

The girl was the 25th person killed in traffic crashes so far this year in Allen County.
