The St. Joe Little League Junior All-Stars knocked off previously unbeaten Silver Creek on Sunday in Wabash to claim the Indiana State Championship title.
After scoring four runs in the first inning, St. Joe held on for a 7-3 victory.
St. Joe pitcher Bart Tippmann held Silver Creek scoreless until the bottom of the third. Tippmann allowed just six Silver Creek hits in the win.
Offensively, Bryson Tretter, Sam Taylor, Riley Miller, and Ben Keating put up a combined nine hits and scored three runs for St. Joe in the second and third innings.
St. Joe outfielder Zach Piatt recorded six putouts; leftfielder Robbie Bakle added a couple.
This win marks only the third time that a District 10 Junior team has won the State Championship title.
St. Joe All-Stars are managed by Kevin Hunter and coached by Matt Mertes and Greg Piatt.
