Spring Town & Country begins
Spend a weekend browsing that potential new home you’ve been wanting
So, it’s spring time.
And while for many of us that means a thorough cleaning of the home – especially that cluttered garage we are loathe to look at in the cold, dark winter months – maybe for some of you the change in season has got you looking at your home in a different way.
As in, instead of cleaning it, you want a new one altogether.
The 2017 Spring Town & Country New Home & Specialty Retail Tour has got you covered.
Presented by the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Fort Wayne, this year’s spring tour includes 46 homes, 12 maintenance-free villaminiums and two home building sites sprawled across Fort Wayne and New Haven which anyone can visit for free beginning next weekend.
Twenty-eight in-home vendors will also be on hand at many of the homes to discuss their products and services.
“This show will satisfy the needs of determined buyers with homes in all areas of Fort Wayne, New Haven, Grabill, Spencerville, Roanoke, Ossian and Auburn, displaying a wide range of floor plans in all price categories,” HBA officials wrote in a media release.
Last year, realtor.com declared Fort Wayne to be one of the Top 10 hottest housing markets and the website www.millennialpersonalfinance.com recently ranked the city as one of the best places for Millennials, partly due to the cost of living and the prices of homeownership.
So maybe you’re in the market for your first home, one with an open concept or a large bedroom. Maybe you need a garage that can fit three or four cars inside – though remember how hard that is to clean in the spring – or maybe you’re looking for something with a spacious living room.
Maybe you want something near city scape or shops or something in the country.
Is the hassle-free life of a villa the life for you?
At the tour, you can see what options are available to you – whether you’re looking to upsize or downsize or whether you’re buying your first home or maybe your last home. There are plenty with nearly every type of floor plan.
Plus, 33 of the homes have never been shown during a tour from builders such as Majestic Homes, Quality Crafted Homes, Slattery Builders and Granite Ridge Builders, just to name a few of the companies showing what’s possible in a living space.
“(These tours) introduce us to the public,” said Barclay Allen, owner of Timberlin Homes, in an interview with Fort Wayne Newspapers this past fall. “It tells them who we are and what we can do.”
Timberlin Homes is showing a never-before-seen home in Deer Hollow in Auburn during this tour. That 4,880 square foot home includes five bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a three-car garage and interior trim work with a stone fireplace.
The tour is sponsored by JF Miller Heating and Air Conditioning, 3 Rivers Federal Credit Union, Carter Lumber, Menards, K105 FM, 97.3 WMEE and Fort Wayne Newspapers. It’s a self-guided tour and you can find all the information you’ll need in the 88-page official tour guide distributed in the Journal Gazette.
Soon, you can go to the tour’s website – sponsored by Diamond Residential Mortgage Corporation – and see the full information on all the builders, sponsors and vendors in every home.
The tour website, hometour.fortwayne.com, also has directions and is designed to be used on smartphones and tablets while you’re on the go. Homes are open from noon to 5 p.m. April 29 and 30 and then again May 6 and 7.
So whatever your needs in a home or living space, you can go and look and see.
And, maybe, instead of cleaning out the old home you are tired of cleaning out this spring, buy.
