Ice rink opens for the holidays
Grab your skates — a winter tradition is at Headwaters Park here again
By the time you read this, the temperature may have already dropped to some miserable degree, there might be cold rain pelting your window and there could even be snow right around the corner — a sharp turn from the sunny 70s we felt recently.
But fear not, because there is some fun to be had.
Today marks the opening of the Headwaters Park Ice Rink, where families have been going for years as they gather for the holidays over the next two months or so.
The doors will open at 11 a.m. and stay open until 10 p.m. — giving you plenty of time to enjoy a good opening season skate and, while outside, get out of the precipitation that’s supposed to come our way throughout the day.
And don’t worry, Sunday might be looking a little more wintery as snow is expected, according to weather forecasts.
Admission to the rink for those 14 years old and over is $5, while those 13 and under get in for $3. Skate rental is $3. Don’t skate? No worries — you can come and watch your friends and family for free as a spectator.
The rink’s scheduled hours for the season are 1 p.m. to 8 p,m. Monday through Thursday, non to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Sunday’s hours are noon to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the park’s Facebook page.
