World Series trophy tour to swing through Fort Wayne
Cubs bringing their championship prize to one of its hotbeds of fandom.
Some of you waited a long time.
A long, long, LONG time.
And then last month, with a simple little scoop and fling to first by a smiling Kris Bryant, you finally got to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series — in defiances of the baseball gods that had somehow kept the lovable losers from being the ultimate winners for more than a century.
Soon, you’ll have the chance to see that World Series trophy they hoisted up close in personal.
Right here in Fort Wayne.
Cubs officials announced Thursday that the city will be a stop along the team’s trophy tour, which begins Dec. 15 in Chicago. The Summit City will be one of three Indiana locations on the tour, though an exact date of when the trophy will be here has yet to be set.
Fans are encouraged to follow its path online, though, and to continually check for updates on when the trophy will be arriving.
So while you might have to wait a little while to see it for your own eyes, it’s right around the corner.
And no curse or goat will keep it from you now.
