Upset The Apple Cart
Because the Hot Brandy Apple Pie dessert at the Black Dog Pub arrives at your table in a hot skillet, one can only assume that it was invented by an 18th century blacksmith. While he worked, the blacksmith threw apples, butter and brandy in a glowing cast-iron pan, cooked it for three seconds and tossed it all into his calloused mouth. OK, maybe not. But this delectable dessert – hot apple pie covered with a brandy butter sauce and vanilla ice cream – is the sort of thing that makes you glad the blacksmith handed his pans and recipes over to a chef for further refinement. Now, the menu description of the dessert says “enough for two.” Two what, though? I am just going to go ahead and assume they mean two sparrows. Since I am a lot bigger than two sparrows, I am just going to go ahead and order two desserts. 6230 Covington Road, 260.432.5534, blackdogpub.us
