Richard and Joan Johnson Richard and Joan Johnson will joyfully celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this coming week. They were married September 29, 1951, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Muncie, Ind. With their wedding day also being Richard’s 25th birthday, this anniversary will be co-celebrated with his 90th birthday festivities! The couple is blessed with 10 children: Mel (Sandy) of Royal Oak, Mich., Thom (Suzie), Karen (Phil) Lake, Richard (Elaine) of Decatur, Texas, Cathy (Scott) McLeish, Carole (Tom) Bills of Whitley County, Mary (Ed) Garr of Erie, Pa., Joan (Dave) Hippenhammer, Judi (Brad) Holsinger of Avon and Darcey (Mark) McNeil of Anderson. The couple also has 31 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Richard served in the US Navy SEABEES in WWII. He graduated Ball State University and received an MBA from St. Francis University. He retired from Indiana Michigan Power after 43 years of service. Joan was a dedicated homemaker, later working for Fort Wayne Juvenile Probation Dept. and also Stat Care. With gratitude, the couple credits their strong faith in God and commitment to family for the innumerable blessings their years together have granted them.
