PICTURE THIS: Jared Christiansen’s interest in photography may have started when he borrowed his wife’s camera “and didn’t give it back,” he said. His interest in photography as a vocation may have helped him come to grips with a drinking problem and with a former job that had become toxic. Whatever brought him to this place in time, Christiansen is now one of Fort Wayne’s most exciting photographers (his work can often be seen in Fort Wayne magazine). Christiansen said that being a good photographer is a mixture of talent and hard work. The last decade has for him been full of trials and errors and each one has made him better at what he does and more certain about what he wants to do. “I see everything in composition,” he said. “Like, I’m sitting here in my office right now, and I see 18 different ways of looking at things. Just because I live and breathe it. So, I think you have to have it. And, like anything, you have to practice and get better and learn.” jaredchristiansenphotography.com
