Club Room Goes Big

Less than a year after opening in Quimby Village,
the Club Room at the Clyde Theatre is expanding.

There are several reasons for this, according to the Clyde Theatre’s executive director Gregg Coyle. First is the success of its local music nights. It started with a jazz night on Wednesdays hosted by Alicia Pyle. Then Coyle added blues on Mondays hosted by G. Money and on Fridays devoted the stage to an eclectic mix of Hoosier music curated by WBOI’s Julia Meek. All this programming has bucked conventional wisdom; it fills the room to capacity.

“It’s funny,” said Coyle. “I had people say to me, ‘There’s no way a blues night is going to work. It’s on a Monday. But, it has done really well.”

The Club Room’s expansion includes enlarging the stage, extending the kitchen, thereafter, the menu.

The expansion will connect two sections of Quimby Village including the repurposing of a former beauty college.

A coffee shop, modeled after the Crescendo Café located at Sweetwater’s headquarters, will also be added. It will have grab-and-go pizza, breakfast sandwiches, bowls and desserts. It will be open all day.

The expansion should be completed just in time to pull up a chair at its new outdoor patio. 1806 Bluffton Road, 260.407.8530, clydeclubroom.com
