Channeling inspiration: Although she gravitated toward photography, Dixie Bradley said she eventually moved toward painting because of the late painter and art historian, Norm Bradley. “He was having entirely too much fun,” she said about her husband of 41 years. Under his tutelage, Bradley found a new way to express herself, although she joked that while it may sound hokey, she wonders if she occasionally “channels” Norm. Dixie Bradley studied photography at the Fort Wayne School of Art in the late 1970s. Experiments cyanotype printing and color photograms became a conduit to encounter oil painting. As for inspiration, Bradley is influenced by trips she and Norm took to the southwest, especially to the Mayan ruins and Zion National Park. “I (believe) those images popped from my subconscious.”crestwoodsgallery.com
